During the running of industrial chain type bucket elevator, sometimes when conveying bulk materials with high grinding property or large granule, the conveyed materials will block the bottom sprocket wheel to result in link chain derailment. Therefore, we reviewed the clients working site and investigated the issue.

The key problem was finally found out and we discussed the solutions. Now we compare the improved configuration with the previous as follows:

The previous chain wheel configuration of bucket elevator is the split type cast steel component. When conveying the powder materials or granule materials with low grinding property, which is assured to run without any malfunctions normally. But when conveying the materials with high grinding property or large granule, the conveyed materials will drop into the U type groove of the chain wheel and make the sprocket get blocked, then leading to link chain derailment in the end.

So, we modified our design for industrial chain type bucket elevator as the below drawing. The top chain wheel still adopts the original type as the above drawing.
 

The modified sprocket wheel of industrial chain type bucket elevator is a whole component that two original type chain wheels combined into one. Removing the U type retaining groove, and adopt welded plate type cylinder wheel instead of the previous cast steel chain whee . The advantage of this modification is :

1) There is no U type retaining groove, avoid materials blocking and chain derailment problem;

2) Take welded plate component instead of cast steel component, which saves much cost as the bucket elevator equipment;

3) This configuration is more compact and simpler , which is easier to be disassembled.

After checking and testing this new modification of the industrial chain type bucket elevator. It proves that this modification for chain wheel is reasonable and successful.
